New family-focused play café opens in Bluffton, offering a vibrant space for kids and a cozy café for adults

Bluffton, SC is now home to an exciting new destination for families with young children. The Sunshine Playhouse, a thoughtfully designed indoor play space combined with a cozy coffee café, has officially opened its doors—offering a unique blend of imaginative play for kids and relaxation for parents.

Founded by local entrepreneur and mom Heather Richardson, The Sunshine Playhouse was born from a desire to create a space where children can explore, play, and grow—while adults feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for.

“As a parent, I’ve always wanted a space where my kids could be free to play in a safe, enriching environment—and I could enjoy a good coffee and a sense of community,” said Richardson. “The Sunshine Playhouse is that dream come to life. We’ve created a place where families can truly enjoy time together.”

Designed for children ages 0–6, The Sunshine Playhouse features a whimsical indoor play village complete with pretend storefronts, sensory play areas, and open-ended toys that spark creativity and imagination. The space encourages social development, fine and gross motor skills, and self-led discovery.

Equally important is the café experience for grownups. The on-site coffee bar serves handcrafted espresso drinks, seasonal specials, and light snacks in a warm, modern atmosphere—inviting parents, caregivers, and friends to relax while little ones play nearby.

Located at 4375 Bluffton Parkway Suite C, The Sunshine Playhouse is quickly becoming a go-to gathering space for local families, playgroups, and birthday celebrations. In addition to daily open play sessions, the venue also offers private party packages, enrichment events, and pop-up classes throughout the month.

The Sunshine Playhouse is now open to the public with play sessions available Monday through Sunday. Reservations are recommended.
